Ruhm und Erschöpfung

Copy & Waste

Projektraum Leipziger Straße

This coproduction with theatre collective copy & waste takes a forgotten and hidden music hall from the 1900s and makes it accessible for one night only – before leaving it again to its own devices.

Five years ago, we were told of a secret music hall from the 1900s in the middle of Berlin. Heavily damaged during the war, and then forgotten – but not completely. The music hall is neither in use nor publicly accessible. One of those hidden spaces – they do still exist. With its golden ornamentation, its high ceilings and faded carpets, the space would be the ideal new spot for –. Whatever.

This time, we are departing from our own principle and leaving this space in peace. Once the city of eternally new empty spaces, Berlin is now exhausted. Culture has left a trail of havoc in its wake. And so, we leave this space untouched.

But we’re sharing it nonetheless. To bring it to another place, where we can open it together. For one night.
